Building TEDA from the ground up
TEDA was born from a clear realisation: the greatest resource in our communities is not funding, it is people.
Across Eastern Uganda, committed young leaders saw talented young people being held back by poverty, unemployment, climate change, limited opportunities, and a lack of platforms to turn ideas into action. Rather than waiting for change to come from elsewhere, they chose to build a youth-led response rooted in local ownership.

Why I started TEDA
At the heart of TEDA is a simple belief: lasting development happens when communities are empowered to lead their own transformation. When I look across the Teso sub-region, I see incredible talent, deep knowledge, and an unmatched spirit of resilience. TEDA exists to turn that potential into real, measurable change — not by doing things for communities, but by equipping them to lead the way.
This journey began with conversations under mango trees and market stalls — young people sharing what they needed, what they had, and what they dreamed of. Those conversations became our programmes, and our programmes became this movement. Every young person who has discovered their potential through TEDA, and every community that has chosen resilience over dependence, is proof that the future of Eastern Uganda is already being written by its people.
